Ring in Christmas in Adams County

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...." in Adams County.  And this weekend there are several events to "make the season bright".

If you're hungry stop by the M&I Bank in Adams for the Friendship Connection Holiday Bake Sale on Friday from 9AM to 2PM and stock up on Christmas goodies.

Saturday head to the Town of Rome for the Annual Tree Lighting at 6PM.  Santa will be arriving by Fire Truck to lead the celebration including a candlelight procession, hot chocolate and cider and Christmas carols.

For beautiful sounds of the season, there will be a Christmas concert at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adams Sunday at 4PM.

And if you'd like to share a meal with the community, make reservations by calling 608-339-4251 before December 12th for the Salvation Army Christmas Dinner which will be December 25th Noon at the Adams Community Center.

Eat Dinner and Run for Food

Lots of fun greets us at the holiday season approaches, and Adams County is no exception.

November 19th is opening day for Whitetail Gun Deer Season and that means it's time for St Joseph's Annual Deer Hunters Dinner. The famous swiss steak meal with all the trimmings will be served Saturday evening from 4PM to 7PM at St Joseph's Parish Center. Tickets at the door will be$8.50/Adults $6.50/children under 10.

Next week brings Thanksgiving, and this year before you feast come and join in the Adams County Running Club Family Turkey Trot Just remember to bring a non-parishable item for the food pantry, then walk or run from Friendship Park to Cenex and back, a 3 mile route, and make room for the turkey late. This event begins at 8AM, so you'll be back home in time to see the Packer game!

Adams Friendship High School will host the Home and Community Education Harvest Festival Saturday November 5th 9:30AM-2PM.  Bring a non-perishable food item for free admission and check out the silent auction, bake sale, cookie walk, crafts & gifts, and more.  Entertainment provided by "Country Pals"

Roche a Cri Walk and Hayride

The Annual Pumpkin Walk and Haunted Hayride will be October 22nd 3PM-9PM.

Spend a day in the outdoors and enjoy games for kids, a pumpkin and torch-lit walk, non-haunted and haunted hayrides, and a naturalist presentation by the campfire. Food will be available by the Friends of Roche-A-Cri. Free park admission; park office picnic area, or park and ride the free shuttle bus from corner of Highway 13 and Czech Ave.

October 1st

Next Saturday visit Adams County and join in these fun events!

7th Annual Cemetary Tour begins at 9:30AM. The bus will leave the McGowan House in Friendship and you will visit the Olin Cemetery, Townline Cemetery, and Easton Cemetery and "hear stories of Spirits. The tour is $12/person for transportation and lunch. Contact www.adamshistory.com for more details.

Quincy Fire Dept. Open House and Annual Dance is also October 1st.  Head to the firehouse from 9AM-2PM, then to the Dellwood Pavilion for dancing 8PM-Midnight

For those who miss fun in the snow, check out the Vintage Snowmobile Race and Show sponsored by Rustic Ridge Riders and Castle Rock Lions. Registration starts at 8:30AM and racing at 11AM at the Adams County Fairgrounds.  Registration forms can be found here  www.rusticridgeriders.org
