Christmas Fun November 24th

This Saturday there will no shortage of Christmas spirit in Adams County. Check out these events and ring in the holiday season.

Local Adams County businesses "Home for the Holiday Celebration" begins with sales and specials in their stores beginning on Small Business Saturday.

Check out "A Night in Bethlehem", a free event at St Joseph's Center in Adams from 11AM-3PM. Donations for the food pantry would be appreciated.

The Adams County Historical Society will be hosting an Open House Saturday including a Visit from Santa from 1PM to 3PM at the McGowan House in Friendship.

Top off the evening with the Holiday Parade beginning at dusk followed the Friendship Tree Lighting.

October 20th - Lots of Fun Events

Next Saturday, October 20th, will be a busy day in Adams County.  Which events will you choose?

For all Kintergarten through 12th graders its the Adams County 4-H Super Saturday at the Adams-Friendship Middle School from 9AM-Noon. There will be crafts to make and activities, along with the chance to learn about the 4-H.

Roche-A-Cri State Park will be hosting the Annual Pumpkin Walk and Haunted Hayride. From 3PM to 9 PM. Bring the kids early, games will be from 3PM-4:30PM and the non-haunted hayrides will be from 3:30PM-5:30PM.  Haunted hayrides will begin at 6PM, and the trail around the mound will be lit by tiki torches and pumpkins at dusk. Saturday evening have dinner for a good cause at the 4th Annual Italian Dinner and Silent Auction for the Adams County Humane Society at the VFW from 4:30PM-7PM.  Enjoy mostaccioli, Italian sausage, meatballs, salad, bread sticks and homemade desserts.  See details here Adams County Humane Society

In the Town of Rome they will be celebrating Oktoberfest at the Rome Town Hall from 5PM-Midnight. Start off with a German dinner including Pork Jagerschnitzel, Beef Rouladen, Spaetzel and Red Cabbage. Then lots of polkas, German drinking songs, cash bar with German beer. Tickets are $25, get them at the Lester Public Library and KeySavings Bank.

End your Saturday with a Halloween treat - a special 3rd Saturday Classic Movie event: The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The movie will begin at 10PM at the Adams Community Theater.

Walk for Autism

October 6th is the date for North Star Services, Inc's 1st Annual Walk for Autism at the A-F Middle School track.  The walk will be held 10AM to 4PM and all proceeds will go toward the North Star building fund for the sensory room for Autistic youth.

Adams County Labor Day Events

Check out these great events across Adams County this Labor Day weekend.

Friday August 31st is the Lake Arrowhead Community Chorus Concert, 7PM at the Lake Arrowhead Clubhouse in the Town of Rome. This concert is free with a donation for the Adams County Food Pantry.

Saturday September 1st is the 23rd Annual Lake Arrowhead Craft Show from 9AM-PM. Over 100 vendors with fine handmade crafts.

Saturday is also Smokey the Bear Day at Roche-a-Cri State Park.  Stop by the kiosh shelter from 10AM-Noon, enjoy games and activities for the family.

If you're hungry stop in Saturday or Sunday at St Jospeh's Catholic Chuch in Friendship for their Homemade Bake Sale.  Delicious treats are waiting!

Sunday September 2nd the Quincy Fire Department is sponsoring a Pancake Breakfast 7AM-11AM at the Castle Rock Park Shelter.

Sunday is also the Annual Easton/White Creek Lions Labor Day Celebration starting at 11:30AM at Easton-White Creek Lions Park. Barbecue chicken, horseshoe tournaments, flea market, kids tractor pull and more.

50th Annual Corn-N-Tater Fest

The 50th annual Corn-N-Tater Festival is this Sunday, August 19th, at Grand Marsh Lions Park from 11AM to 4PM.

30th Annual Street Dance

This Saturday, August 4th, is the Big Flats Fire Department 30th Annual Street Dance Fundraiser.

Head to the Big Flats Fire Station on County C for Horseshoes at 3PM.  Then the music starts at 3:30PM with Country Junction playing until 7PM followed by Austin Healy from 7PM to Midnight.

Rec Days

The Roche-A-Cri Lions will be hosting Rec Days July 20th to 22nd at Arkdale Lions Park.

Three days of family fun include Softball & Horseshoe Tournaments, kids tractor pull, games, food and music.  Saturday there will be a"Grilled Chix Nic" and fireworks at dusk (weather permitting).  Sunday start your day with a Pancake Breakfast then check out the "d'Elegance Car & Truck Show" and the parade.

Centennial Celebration

It all started with a railroad 100 years ago. 

The City of Adams is celebrating it's Centennial July 4th to 7th!  Opening ceremonies begin at 8AM on the 4th with the raising of the flag by the Mayor, and fun activities and events will be happening all around Adams and Friendship.

Wednesday's festivities include the 4th of July parade at 10AM and the Hobo Fire Lighting in Burt Morris Park at 6PM. Thursday you can picnic with the Hobos in Curves parking lot from 11:30AM-1:30PM and hear the Community Band at a Pie Social in Lions Park from 5PM-8PM.

Friday see Model Railroad and City displays at the Community Center from 10AM-4PM and listen to the A-F Jazz Band perform at Burt Morris Park from 5:30PM-7PM. Saturday there is a Pancake Breakfast at the Burt Morris Pavilion from 8:30AM-11AM and Antique Tractor Rides at Burt Morris Park from 10AM-4PM; the celebration ends with fireworks at 9:30PM.

Night Hike in Roche-A-Cri Park

This Saturday come out and see nature in the dark at the park.

June 23rd Roche-A-Cri State Park in Friendship will host a Night Hike.  Beginning at twilight (around 7PM) there will be an educational program at the Kiosk picnic shelter, followed by a hike on a path lit by tiki torches from 8PM to 10PM.  Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of Roche-A-Cri.

GRABAAWR is coming!

The GReat Annual Bicycle Adventure Along the Wisconsin River - GRABAAWR - will be again making a stop in Adams-Friendship June 21st-22nd.

The 27th Annual GRABAAWR bicycle tour will begin July 16th at the headwaters of the Wisconsin River in Eagle River and will also be stopping in Rhinelander, Merrill, Stevens Point, Baraboo before finishing where the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers meet in Prairie du Chien on July 23rd.

The Cyclists will be stopping at Adams-Friendship High School for the night, and a Concert in Friendship Village Park at 6PM is planned.

Not Your Average Triathlon

Not your average athlete? Then you should be at the Not Your Average Triathlon this Saturday, May 26th, at the Lure Bar and Grill in the Town of Rome.

From 8AM-Noon you to try your hand at one, two or all three fun skills: bike, walk and canoe/kayak. It is an untimed triathlon, so everyone can join in on the fun.  There will also be Community Sponsored Booths on health and wellness activities, a post event lunch and raffle.

May 19th at the Lester Public Library

Not that you need an extra reason to go to the library, but Saturday May 19th will be a busy day in the Town of Rome, because the Lester Public Library is turning 10.

Start the morning with a free Master Gardener Plant Exchange, beginning at 8:30AM.  Bring containers and take home some starter plants from the Library's garden, or bring your own plants to share.  Details here 

Then from 11AM-2PM its the 10th Anniversary “Birthday Party”!  See story teller Mary Norris and Pat Paulus the Monarch Butterfly Lady.  Special appearance by Rosco P. Rafter, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters' Mascot.  And there will be brats, punch and of course cake.  More info here

Dyracuse Motocross

Dyracuse Recreational Area is open. Spring hours are Wednesday 3PM-Dusk and Saturday/Sunday 10AM-Dusk.

This Sunday, April 29th, Dyracuse Park and the Rapids Angels will be hosting Motocross Races beginning at 9AM. Racers can register Saturday or Sunday before the event.

Chili Fiesta

The Adams County Humane Society is hosting a Chili Fiesta Saturday April 14th from 11AM to 4PM at the Friendship Village Hall.  There will be lots of delicious homemade chili with many toppings options, beverages and desserts.  Cost is $5/adults and $2.50/kids.  There will also be crafts, baked goods and ACHS t-shirts for sale. Proceeds will go to the Adams County Humane Society.

Ski Jump Meet at Dyracuse Mound

The 80th Annual Tri-Norse USSA Junior & Senior Ski Jump Meet original scheduled for January 15th will be held Sunday February 19th Noon at Dyracuse Mound in the Town of Rome. Competition will be 5, 10, 22 and 52 K hills.  This event is a Junior National Alternate Qualifier.

SnoBlast 2012

Need to beat the Winter blues? Head to the Pines Clubhouse at Lake Arrowhead and join in the fun at SnoBlast 2012 February 11th and 12th.

This year the Door County Sled Dogs will be here, and rides (only 110 available) are $10.  There will also be a Magic Show, Haywagon Rides, Lawn Mower Races, Bingo, Dart Tournament, Volleyball, a meat raffle, music and Saturday night Fireworks at 6:30PM.

Inspirational Music

Enjoy some wonderful music this Saturday January 14th by the Moody Symphonic Band. The concert begins at 6PM at the Adams – Friendship Middle School.

The Moody Bible Institute’s Symphonic Band, under the direction of David Gauger, travels across the country each year, will perform a selection of hymns and gospel songs in both traditional and contemporary styles.
