If you're looking for a New Years Eve party, Lake Arrowhead is hosting their annual event at the Clubhouse beginning at 8:30PM with music by Rumors. There will also be a party at the Grand Marsh Community Center from 7PM to Midnight.

The Bird Lovers Club is holding their monthly meeting tomorrow, December 16th, from 1:30PM to 3:30PM at the Friendship Connection in Friendship.  This month's topic is "Birds in Winter".  The meeting is free, and new friends are always welcome.

Ring in Christmas in Adams County

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...." in Adams County.  And this weekend there are several events to "make the season bright".

If you're hungry stop by the M&I Bank in Adams for the Friendship Connection Holiday Bake Sale on Friday from 9AM to 2PM and stock up on Christmas goodies.

Saturday head to the Town of Rome for the Annual Tree Lighting at 6PM.  Santa will be arriving by Fire Truck to lead the celebration including a candlelight procession, hot chocolate and cider and Christmas carols.

For beautiful sounds of the season, there will be a Christmas concert at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Adams Sunday at 4PM.

And if you'd like to share a meal with the community, make reservations by calling 608-339-4251 before December 12th for the Salvation Army Christmas Dinner which will be December 25th Noon at the Adams Community Center.

Eat Dinner and Run for Food

Lots of fun greets us at the holiday season approaches, and Adams County is no exception.

November 19th is opening day for Whitetail Gun Deer Season and that means it's time for St Joseph's Annual Deer Hunters Dinner. The famous swiss steak meal with all the trimmings will be served Saturday evening from 4PM to 7PM at St Joseph's Parish Center. Tickets at the door will be$8.50/Adults $6.50/children under 10.

Next week brings Thanksgiving, and this year before you feast come and join in the Adams County Running Club Family Turkey Trot Just remember to bring a non-parishable item for the food pantry, then walk or run from Friendship Park to Cenex and back, a 3 mile route, and make room for the turkey late. This event begins at 8AM, so you'll be back home in time to see the Packer game!

Roche a Cri Walk and Hayride

The Annual Pumpkin Walk and Haunted Hayride will be October 22nd 3PM-9PM.

Spend a day in the outdoors and enjoy games for kids, a pumpkin and torch-lit walk, non-haunted and haunted hayrides, and a naturalist presentation by the campfire. Food will be available by the Friends of Roche-A-Cri. Free park admission; park office picnic area, or park and ride the free shuttle bus from corner of Highway 13 and Czech Ave.

Classic Car Show

3rd Annual Lake Classic Car Show will be this Saturday 8AM-3PM along the South Lake Center Marina on Lake Arrowhead in Rome.  Check out cars in 18 classes.  50/50 drawing with all profits going to the Adams County Humane Society.

August 21st is the 49th Annual Corn 'n Tater Festival in Grand Marsh.

Castle Rock Triathlon

On July 23rd head to Castle Rock County Park for the 16th Annual Castle Rock Triathlon: a 1/4 mile swim, 16 mile bike and 3 mile run.

Sponsored by Adams County Chamber of Commerce and Tourism and the Adams-Friendship Student Council, registration will be Friday July 22nd from 6PM to 9PM in the shelter at the Park and Saturday 7AM to 8:30AM. The race begins at 8:45AM. There are 12 divisions, including a team division.

Castle Rock Bassmasters Fishing Tournament

June 26th is the Annual Rick Klein Memorial Bass/Walleye Tourney sponsored by the Castle Rock Bassmasters. The event will be held at the Castle Rock County Park, Adams County (east) side. This is a team event, entry fee is $80/boat or team.

Proceeds from the tournament benefit area High School with $1,800 Scholarships in the name of Bassmaster Charter Member Rick Klein.

Young Eagle Rally

There will be a Young Eagles Rally hosted by EAA Chapter 931, Saturday June 18th from 8AM to 1PM at the Adams County Airport.

The EAA Young Eagles is a program to give children 8-17 an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. These free flights are possible because of the generosity of EAA member volunteers.

A Legal Guardian must be present for kids 8-17 to have a free flight. There will also be food and prizes. Rain date will be June 19th.

This Friday May 27th St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Adams will present Crown of Life New Orleans Musician Chris Driesbach in a Free concert at 6PM at the Friendship Village Park. Free hot dogs, chips and beverage will be provided.

Red Cross is helping Tornado Victims

COTTONVILLE -- The American Red Cross is seeking donations and volunteers to support Adams County tornado victims.

Thus far, the Red Cross has served more than 260 meals and 500 snacks this week to people affected by the Sunday storms.
